LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF ALABAMA CALLS FOR RETURN TO CIVILITY AMIDST POLITICAL VIOLENCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 13, 2024

MONTGOMERY, AL – In the wake of the shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, the Libertarian Party of Alabama stands as a beacon of reason, calling for an immediate return to civil discourse and non-violent political engagement.

“This heinous act of violence represents everything the Libertarian Party opposes,” declared Samuel Bohler, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Alabama. “We categorically reject the use of force to achieve political goals and call on all Americans, regardless of party affiliation, to recommit to the principles of peaceful debate and individual liberty that are the bedrock of our country.”

The Libertarian Party of Alabama extends its deepest condolences to the family of the innocent bystander who lost their life and to all those injured in this senseless attack. We wish former President Trump a full and speedy recovery, emphasizing that political differences should never escalate to physical harm.

As the two major parties become increasingly polarized, the Libertarian Party offers a principled alternative rooted in personal freedom and non-aggression. We believe that:

  1. Political change should come through persuasion, not coercion
  2. Every individual has the right to life, liberty, and property
  3. Open and respectful dialogue is essential, even with those we disagree with

We challenge all political leaders to join us in promoting these values and to actively work towards de-escalating the current political climate.

The Libertarian Party of Alabama remains committed to advancing liberty through peaceful and lawful means. We invite all Alabamians who share our vision of a free and peaceful society to join us in this crucial mission.
