Alabama Native Returns Home From DC To Chair Alabama Libertarian Party

(Birmingham, AL) - The Libertarian Party of Alabama is pleased to welcome Stephen Gordon back to Alabama as our new Chairman.

The LPA Convention held this past weekend had a variety of guest speakers including former Congressman Bob Barr (R-GA) and several LP Presidential hopefuls. The business portion ended with Stephen Gordon being elected Chairman in absentia and Mike Rster elected as Vice Chair. Additionally, Gordon Maddox returns as the Treasurer and Sarah Wires as Secretary.

Former Congressman Bob Barr, who serves on the Libertarian National Committee as the representative for the Southeastern United States, which includes Alabama, offered congratulations to Stephen Gordon.

"While Stephen will be missed at the Libertarian Party National Office, his leadership in Alabama will greatly strengthen the party's presence in that state, and I am looking forward to working closely with the new Alabama chairman," added Barr.

"There is certainly a lot of administrative and development work ahead of us," Gordon said.  "However, the easiest part is already done.  Most Alabamians already subscribe to the libertarian message of smaller government coupled with fiscal and personal responsibility.  Unfortunately, that's no longer the brand of either of the two major parties -- but with a little hard work, it can be ours.  It's past time for a serious change in the direction of Alabama politics."
